Q: What's this about a feud between Neil Sedaka and Karen and RichardCarpenter?

A: Seems the Carpenters knocked the final nail in their friendship with Neil Sedaka when they fired him as their opening act in Las Vegas. Neil says there's no "bad blood" (his new hit) between himself and the brother-sister act -- "They just thought I was too good." Richard, who's spokesman for the pair, is silent on the subject, saving his ammunition for critics who recently accused the duo of having no "soul". "That's ludicrous," he says. "A lot of our music is judged by rock standards, and it shouldn't be. It's pop, and it's progressive in its own way."
