Welcome to the Neil Diamond mailing list!

Hi. My name is Paul Maclauchlan, you have all replied to my posting on
the Sony Neil Diamond message board regarding a Neil Diamond mailing list.
There doesn't seem to be an exisiting list, so I have formed one.

Before I make a more public announcement, there are a few administrative
items I'd like to clear up.

For the time being, you will need to send submissions for the mailing list
to "paulmac@vex.net". I am looking into getting an appropriate account
created to receive and send messages.

I plan to send out a "digest" of messages each day, containing all the
messages sent to the list. This could me changed to each message being
sent out individually. Please let me know your preference.

I also plan to moderate the list. That means I will filter out
inappropriate submissions (spam, non-Neil advertising, etc). I will work
on a list of guidelines that I will follow in deciding if a message will
be approved. I'd like your help in developing those guidelines.

Please let me know if you thing the following should be allowed on the
list:
- messages announcing commercial Neil products (albums, souvenirs, etc)
- messages announcing commercial interests that *may* sell Neil items
(music stores, magazines)
- reprints of Neil articles from newspapers and magazines
- personal messages with no new content ("Thanks for yping that article,
Paul")
- trading of Neil items (books, T-shirts, CDs, records)
- trading of bootleg Neil items (concert tapes, radio interviews)
- non-Neil topics (favourite singers besides Neil, other current events)

My personal feelings are: Yes, No, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, No

Finally, I'd like to select a "name" for the mailing list. I will also
use that name for a web site devoted to Neil and the list (including an
archive of messages sent to the list). Here are some names I've thought
of, in the order that I like them. Please feel free to contribute other
suggestions:

Beautiful Noise
Soolaimon
Hello Again
I Am The Tune
The Gift Of Song
Glory Road
Morningside
Brooklyn Roads
Heartlight
Skybird

I am looking forward to hearing from you!
