Live albums
According to the Solitary Star book, Columbia records wasn't keen to
commit to what became the "Love At The Greek" album because "Hot August
Night wasn't released that long ago, and Neil hadn't recorded enough new
music".
Since Hot August Night, Neil had joined Columbia and released Jonathan
Livingston Seagull, Serenade and Beautiful Noise.
Also, by releasing a live album, Columbia would get a chance to release
live versions of the best of Diamond's UNI songs.
I don't get it.
They have the one of the world's best concert draws, yet are reluctant to
release a live album. I am sure Colubia could release an album from each
tour Neil does and sell enough to show a profit... especially if they
limit packaging and promotion. Heck, they could sell them through their
Special Products line and hock them outside the arenas!
What do you think? Can there be too many Diamond live albums?
