September Mourn

SEPTEMBER MOURN

Based on "September Morn"
Written by Neil Diamond and Gilbert Becaud
You can blame Regina Litman for this one, though.

She stayed for just a while
She stayed long enough to let us look at her
It was long enough, but I hardly knew her
Standing for what she did
She stayed with us just a while
Some only wanted to look at her
She traveled all the way around the world
To find true love again

September mourn
She danced with Neil until the night became a brand new day
Two admirers playing scenes from some romantic play
September mourning won't let us forget that day

Look at what was done
Why, they've taken our grown-up girl
I still can hear the world crying
In the corners of its gloom
And look how far she went
So far from where she should have been
But not so far that we'll have forgotten
How it was before

September mourn
Do you remember how she and Neil danced that night away
Two admirers playing scenes from some romantic play
September mourning still can make me remember that day
