This was my first Elton John Concert, so I'm basically estatic.

The stage was awesome. Very artistic with a heavy emphasis on curvature which drew the eye to Elton at stage right. He used a "Greek Key" design everywhere. On the stage, above the stage, he even had light cutouts to project the pattern onto the audience.

The pattern is from 5th Century BC Greece:

Elton wore a lime green suit which changed colors depending on the lighting used. He had a black T-shirt and black shoes. His glasses were blue. I believe the rims were square but I'm not sure. His hair looked great! Yamaha piano, black. As reported earlier he frequently drank Diet Coke.

Elton was in a great mood. His voice was flawless. Programs are about 30 pages, $15 Shirts $25, with hoods $30, Golf shirts $45, hats $25. The $25 shirts came in three versions. One was black with a picture of Elton, one was The Big Picture Cover, the last was the painting on The Big Picture disc.

Comments as best I remember:

Madman Across the Water is one of his favorite albums.
He loves gospel music and it greatly influences If the River Can Bend.
He commented on the story behind Someone Saved My Life Tonight.
He talked about the thirty years with Bernie and played We All Fall In Love Sometimes in honor of that
.He said that the thing that touched him most in connection with the death of Princess Diana was the reaction of the people. The people outside who came, were silent, and cried. So, he dedicated Your Song to the audience.
He called the banjo one of his favorite underused instuments. Davey played it for Honky Cat.
He felt that none of his songs were appropriate to express his feelings concerning the previous three months, and this is why he played Sand and Water. He encouraged everyone to check the CD out.
The Last Song was dedicated to those touched by AIDS.

So no surprises there.

Nothing I could say could describe the performance. I was definately three of the best hours of my life. It really puzzled me when people would actually leave EARLY before the concert was finished and all the people leaving during the new songs to buy more beer. I couldn't have missed one second! And for those true fans out there who didn't get tickets, you should be angry. No one else in the area where I was sitting knew the words to half the songs but me. Not even Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting.
