Amherst, MA, Nov. 5, 1997

by: Jill Meister

Last night, I saw my first Elton John concert. It was a dream come true! I have been a fan for many years, but never got the chance to go.

The show was sold out, and it was an enthusiastic crowd. The seats I had weren't the best, but there isn't really a bad seat in the Mullins Center.

EJ was wearing a lemon yellow Versace suit, with a black t-shirt underneath. After almost every song, he got up, walked around the stage, collected flowers, signed autographs, and waved to the crowd.

According to the spoiler about the State College show, the Amherst show was a carbon-copy of the State College show, right down to the EJ still suffering from a cold. But it didn't affect his performance! I have to say that the at least 5 minute piano solo before Take Me To The Pilot was unbelievable. The concert started 15 minutes late because of all the ticket holders that had not made into the area, and he played for 2 hours and 45 minutes. I didn't want it to end!
