I got to the amphitheater at 7:00pm for the 7:30 show. I asked security if anybody would be allowed to stand up by the stage, because I did for 2 shows in Atlanta a few months ago. And other Rowers have reported that they have been able to also at other shows...But the security at Fiddler's Green were determined to not let anybody have any fun this night. I talked to four different security guards and the management team and they all told me that nobody would be allowed to stand up in front of the stage. I told them repeatedly that Elton loves to have excited people right up there by him, but that seemed to fall on deaf ears.
Well, my prediction of people going up to the stage came true 7 songs into the show. Nobody was even standing at the opening of the show. Everybody was just sitting there! The audience had no idea how privileged they were to be at an Elton show. Other shows I have attended were electric in the audience and I think that Elton feeds off of that.
When people started to go up front, I left my 25th row seat (which is good don't get me wrong) and tried to get up there, but I was turned around by security that was stationed every 5 rows up the aisles. When I asked "What gives?" the guy told me that Elton asked the first two rows up only. Which was bogus because I saw many people going up there that weren't in the first two rows. I was pretty upset at the way security treats audiences here in Colorado. But it is that way at every show.
Elton was in fine form. Speaking voice was a little raspy and he didn't say anything out of the ordinary from other shows. The standard banter. Normal introductions for each song and the band. Show from 7:35 until 10:15.
