This concert became the most successful broadcast carried by the NBC network, gaining a 15.9 share among adults 18 to 24.Elton John in Kansas City, July 7 1982 - photo by Mike Webber

Mike Webber was at both Kansas City shows, and has been kind enough to give me permission to share some of his photos here. Mike had this to say about the experience:

"Can't possibly have been 24 years ago but I have all the evidence, including my ticket stub from the first night of this 2-night stand (not the broadcast) and photos that I took on the second night (yes, the broadcast).
I was working at Capers Corner - a legendary Kansas City record store owned by Ben Asner, who was the older brother of Ed Asner (Mary Tyler Moore's Lou Grant). I paid for tickets for the Tuesday show (hence, the stubs) and was on the guest list for the broadcast.
Spoke with Elton backstage, who told me (see outfit in pictures) that HE was dressed like the real Kansas City Royal (Kansas City's baseball team actually used to win a lot 25 years ago). I'll post my ticket stub (again, remember this is from the night before but same venue, etc.) and my photos from the broadcast night. These pictures are not great but I'm a big fan of authenticity and these ARE from that night. Hope some creative sort will put them to good use."

Thanks Mike!

The above songs (not the entire concert) were reportedly broadcast on WNEW-FM radio in New York City. Can anyone confirm this as fact? since the July 7 1982 Kansas City show was broadcast nationally in the US, it seems unlikely that this show was also on the radio. I am willing to consider that it was broadcast locally. Help me out here!
