The many lives of Paul Simon

This discography has been divided, rather arbitrarily, into five periods that approximate stages of Paul Simon's musical career. The benefit is that each period's web page will load quicker than a single page covering Paul's whole career.

You can navigate directly to the period you are interested in, or use the Paul Simon Timeline to find a particular single or album. Everything is in chronological order, so reissues appear when they were released, not in the period they were recorded.

In addition, I have created Paul Simon Books, a page listing books about Paul Simon that you might enjoy.

Please let me know what you think of the discography, and send me any corrections, additions or collectables. Thanks for reading! .../

Simon & Garfunkel closed on the opening Friday night. Paul Simon sat on the steering committee for the festival with John Phillips, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson & Mick Jagger.

In John Phillips' autobiography Papa John, he writes about Paul Simonat Monterey:
Paul Simon found me backstage. He was having himself a great time. "I've been walking around outside," he said, "and it's incredible. It's jubilee. You see the teepees and tents all over out there?"
I nodded. "I saw you and Hendrix sitting together with guitars a while ago. That must have been interesting."
He rolled his eyes. "He's amazing, an unbelievable player."
"You and Hendrix jammming - that must have been a trip."
"Yeah."
"What were you playing?"
"Not lead," he said in his great deadpan delivery...

Permission was not granted for any of these songs to be included in RHINO's Monterey Box Set.

Simon & Garfunkel's performances of Homeward Bound and Sounds Of Silence are included on the Complete Monterey Pop Festival DVD, released April 9 2003.

US TV - SONGS OF AMERICA - Simon & Garfunkel

Heavily edited version of a Simon & Garfunkel TV special originally produced for AT&T. AT&T pulls their sponsorship after realizing the show's obvious political theme. Gerard Eastwood posted an excellent article on the special to the alt.music.paul-simon newsgroup in January 1997.
