The Glass Orchestra instrument collection has waxed and waned over the years. The collection for the Asian Tour was one of the largest and heaviest to be sent on tour. Over a half ton of instruments travelled with the performers, sometimes showing up early and sometimes being lost in transit. In the photo you can see some of the "standard" instruments like the wine glasses and Johns Bowls. There are now many new styles of Glass Icicle wind chimes and a large helmet shaped hanging bowl we called the Darth Vader Helmet, for lack of a better name. This instrument was a gift from our glass blowing friends in San Francisco. In the foreground you can see a Johns Bowl that is missing half of its rim. This casualty of travel still played a useful part in the glass soundscape, bringing a more harmonically complex sound to where there was once a more purer tone.
