My Rexx Script (OS/2 Warp) to get newsgroups, does an "expire -o"
after yarn is executed. It has reported far too few messages
removed since I installed .90 and ran cvt09.
Tonight, I downloaded and installed .91. This time I didn't run
cvt09 (since I now have the new format with .90).
I noticed that only the newsgroup with a (2 2) expiration reported
any messages deleted with "expire -o." All other newsgroups have
a (14 30) expiration setting.
As an experiment, I tried the expire program with various days in
the =d parameter. No deletions showed up until I issued the
command:
expire -o -d 14 -n
But I wasn't protected by the "-n." The damn thing left me with
a news.dat file of 20 bytes. When I executed YARN, it showed me
the nice tree structure of messages, but reported an error on any
attempt to retrieve.
I finally gave up and ran "rebuild" 3 times with each of "-h,"
"-o," and "=s" as flages. I then reset all SOUPER newsrc file
and am still rerunning the script to download every newsgroup
I read.
Please withdraw your "upgrade" before others destroy their
news bases.
