At 20 weeks and it's a......
I have hit the 20 week mark, halfway to THE day! My belly is getting larger by the day and it appears, my appetite is doing a fine job matching the growth. All those pregnancy books encourage the pregnant mums to snack 6 times a day (or maybe it was 6 meals a day!?) BUT the catch, only healthy snack food. What an oxymoron!...snack food and the word 'healthy' can never go together! Why do I want to have an apple when I can have kaya toast, pork floss bun, egg tart, fried chicken wings or pop corn! I hardly snack before I was pregnant with Peanut, but now that I can (and mind you...sanctioned by the doctors and experts).....let me do it the way I want to. Yes, another Ferraro Rocher please.
I tell ya, I just can't wait for Chinese New Year where we would be feasting on just about the best tarts, cakes and...the most evil of all....the BBQ pork slices (bak Kwa), burnt to a crisp, Chinese style!
We went to the scheduled ultrasound (normally done at 19-22 weeks) where the doctor checked out if Peanut is growing as it should. My belly was scanned and prodded by the radiographer who looked extremely serious and solemn. She measured Peanut's limbs/ organs, brain, head etc....it was indeed serious work because Tim was not allowed in as the fathers-to-be tend to be distracting. But once the measurements are completed, Tim came in and we enjoyed a very family sitcom moment where there were lots of 'oohing' and 'aahing' ...as we looked on at Peanut on the ultrasound with just awe and joy.
The doctor was pleased to announce that Peanut is all healthy and its growth in the safe min-max average span. It's funny how BEFORE the baby is born, you want his growth and size to be average, not abnormally large or small. But, AFTER the birth, it's "Come on, let's excel! Forget about being normal and average.....work harder to be the smartest, or fastest or most creative or whatever".......
We are relieved to know that all is going well. And thankful to God for this good news. He has indeed been good to me, giving me the smoothest of all pregnancies (no morning sickness at all and no cravings). Sometimes, I do wonder...whether I am pregnant? But the ever expanding belly proves it all....and the rollercoaster emotional rides.
Watch this space for a new update soon...I hope to put in a photo of my belly, better get Tim to help!
Bye!
Oh, and.........Peanut is a BOY!
